As Day Two of the Irish Open Ladies’ Championship unfolded, it was clear that the day’s events mirrored those of Day One. Michelle Skinner, the chip leader from the previous day, faced off against Lydia Cugudda, who had finished second in chips. This highly anticipated clash showcased the exceptional skills of both players: Michelle, representing the United States, and Lydia, a well-known UK player and host of the Real Poker Girls of London Podcast.

The heads-up battle was an exciting display of strategy, with Michelle holding a strong chip lead of 61 big blinds (3,090,000) against Lydia’s 19 big blinds (985,000). Nevertheless, Lydia’s determination shone through, and the action heated up on just the second hand when she found AK against Michelle’s pocket 5’s. Lydia caught a King on the turn, doubling her stack and leveling the playing field.
With both players nearly even, they explored the possibility of a chop to split the prize. However, confusion arose due to unconventional rules, as they discovered they still needed to play for 15% of the prize, approximately €2,000. This complexity delayed their discussions longer than the actual heads-up battle, which lasted only six hands.
As the game resumed, both ladies showcased their extensive final table experience, demonstrating incredible skill and resolve as they sought any advantage to secure the trophy. The match culminated in a tense flip, where luck and skill converged, leading to Michelle Skinner’s victory with pocket 9’s. In the end, both players walked away with a little over €6,000.
