Jeanne David Industry Induction
Jeanne David was born in Yonkers, New York. Unfortunately, Jeanne’s childhood was not picture perfect, with her father walking out on her and her sister Eileen when she was only 4 years old. She grew up, fending for herself on most days, learning how to cook, clean and do laundry at a very early age. This was the 50s, a time of strong family values and traditions; her father never returned.
At 18 years old, Jeanne moved to Tucson, Arizona, and went to college at the U of A. This was the 70s in America, which was a time of Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll. Jeanne took the drugs part seriously. It didn’t help matters that U of A was a renowned party college. Not long after, Jeanne dropped out of college and encountered difficulties as she partied through the 70s. After a 10 year span of drug addiction, multiple rehabs, homelessness, and getting into legal trouble, she entered her final treatment facility in 1982 and never looked back.
Jeanne eventually got a job in the field of addiction, went back to college, and began her degree in social work, specializing in addiction. Jeanne graduated with her Masters Degree by the time she was 50. At work, Jeanne quickly worked her way up through the ranks and became the director of one of the most extensive residential facilities for addiction treatment in New York City. After 20 years working in the field of addiction, she discovered online poker, packed up her life, and relocated to Las Vegas. Shortly after landing in Las Vegas, she was advised of an opening at a big online poker company in the role of responsible gaming at PokerStars, setting up safe betting practices, and assisting players who had gambling addiction problems. It was the perfect role. Her worlds had synced, and Jeanne was on a new path in a job she loved.
In 2006, as the of Head of Responsible Gaming at PokerStars, one of the world’s largest online poker sites at that time, Jeanne moved to the Isle of Man from the USA and led a team of responsible gaming staff, meeting with various gaming commissions in the UK and USA; eventually speaking in parliamentarian sittings in the Netherlands, the senate committees in Michigan, and political leaders in Nevada, California, and New Jersey. She fought hard for online poker in the United States, meeting with senators, members of Congress, and other political leaders about how to merge online poker with safe betting practices and assist players in need. Jeanne worked closely with the National Council on Problem Gambling setting up protocol for safe betting strategies as well as assisting other responsible gaming organizations around the world.
Jeanne retired in 2020 after 15 years with PokerStars but never slowed down. She became a fixture in the Mixed Game community, promoting Mixed Games with a focus on supporting women in Mixed Games. In 2020, Jeanne took over the esteemed HORSE league in Las Vegas. This is one of the toughest leagues in town, with over 50% of professional poker players holding elaborate titles with a few World Series of Poker bracelets thrown in for good measure. There is a long waiting list, and it’s the hottest league in town. If women are statistically 5% of the field in open poker tournaments, No Limit Holdem, women that play mixed games tournaments are believed to be 3% of the field. Thanks to Jeanne’s efforts the HORSE league boasts an impressive 40% of women. A rare statistic indeed. Jeanne is credited for her consistent efforts in teaching, promoting, and advising women and men who approach her for advice.
Jeanne herself has racked up an impressive list of poker accomplishments. Her Hendon Mob list of tournament earnings stands at $251,717, and she has a World Series of Poker bracelet event final table 8th place in Razz, at the 2018 World Series of Poker, along with 9 World Series of Poker Bracelet event cashes. Jeanne has an astonishing 28 – 1st Place finishes in Mixed Games tournaments all over the USA, her best live cash being an 18th place for $12,074 at the World Series of Poker, World Championship Seniors No Limit Hold ’em at the 38th World Series of Poker in 2007.
Her list of 1st place titles include:
10 – Limit Omaha 8 or better
6 – H.O.R.S.E.
5 – Limit Omaha 8 or better/Stud 8 or better
2 – Pot Limit Omaha
1 – Limit H.E.R.O.S.
1 – Limit Hold ’em/Limit Omaha Hi/Lo 8 or Better Pairs
1 – Dealers Choice
1 – No Limit Holdem/H.O.R.S.E.

Jeanne is a well loved poker girl from Las Vegas who is always only a phone call away to help anyone in need. She has the utmost respect within the local community and is now well-known worldwide. Jeanne recently traveled to the Malta Poker Festival as the first female HORSE ambassador only days after heart surgery. Jeanne sits on the Poker.org Player Advisory Board and was the first guest on The Real Poker Girls of Las Vegas Podcast—an all female gambling podcast about women in poker and gaming.
You can find Jeanne on any given day playing a Mixed Games tournament at a variety of buy-in levels. The Women in Poker Hall of Fame could not have a more fitting Hall Member. The best of Jeanne David is still to come; she is definitely without doubt, one to watch. Amongst her friends at the poker tables Jeanne will forever be known and loved as “The Queen of Mixed Games”.
