The Women’s Poker Association (WPA) international division has begun the process of recruiting international advocates.

With this comes our very first announcement of the appointment of Joy Chen our first Chinese advocate and we couldn’t be more thrilled.  Joy who is based in Beijing comes with a wealth of poker credentials such as the promoter for the China Poker Tour and TV host for the China Poker Games.

Ivonne Montealegre – Vice President of the WPA international had the following remarks:  “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Joy Chen to the WPA family as our first Chinese advocate. Joy’s extensive experience, from promoting the China Poker Tour to hosting the China Poker Games on television, makes her an invaluable addition to our team. With her on board, we’re excited to further develop our presence in Asia, a vibrant and growing market for poker. Joy brings a remarkable portfolio, including her roles as the promoter for the China Poker Tour and as a TV host for the China Poker Games. Her expertise is a tremendous asset as we aim to extend our reach globally. This appointment marks a significant milestone for WPA’s expansion, particularly into the dynamic Asian poker scene. With Joy joining our team, we are poised for exciting developments and a broader international impact.”

Australian’s Tatiana Fox and Di Collins oversee expanding the advocate program internationally.  Di has been working tirelessly with Denny Huang from China to be able to add Joy to the WPA international advocates.   Joy is our first addition to the WPA team as the newly formed international division.  We are now able to focus on expanding the international reach of the WPA globally.

“The Women’s Poker Association is thrilled to continue expanding our Global footprint & International Advocate Program.  This initiative is at the heart of our mission to celebrate and elevate women in poker, fostering a positive community where women can thrive in the game.  The welcomed addition of Joy Chen as a newly appointed WPA International Advocate from China marks a significant milestone in our journey towards inclusivity and diversity.  Joy’s poker experiences and passion for the future of women in poker embody the spirit of the WPA and we are excited to see the positive influence she will bring to the WPA community.  The WPA continues setting the stage for a new era of poker, where women from all corners of the world are empowered to join, play and excel.  This is more than just a game; it’s a movement towards barriers and creating opportunities for women in the sport of poker.” – Tara Windsor Smith, President of the Women’s Poker Association.
