The Women’s Poker Association (WPA) is set to embark on its most ambitious growth initiative to date. In a major announcement delivered to community members, the WPA unveiled plans to launch Regional Player of the Year (POY) competitions starting in 2027, marking a new chapter in the organization’s mission to foster global unity and competition among female poker players.
A New Era of International Competition
Beginning in 2027, the WPA will establish POY leaderboards across four distinct regions: Europe, South America & Latin America, Canada, and Australasia.
To ensure the structure remains equitable and accessible given the varying geographical challenges, the format will be tailored to each region. The Canadian program will mirror the successful U.S. format, while the European, Latin American, and Australasian regions will utilize a “one event per month” designation to track points. The momentum is already building, with nine confirmed events already locked in across these regions—five in Europe, two in Australasia, and two in Latin America—with more partnerships expected to be announced in the coming months.
Strengthening the Community
Beyond the competitive circuit, the WPA is doubling down on its commitment to player development and visibility:

International Board Recruitment: In anticipation of this global scaling, the organization will begin recruiting for the International Board, seeking passionate leaders to help steer the community’s direction.

Educational Initiatives: The WPA is launching online study sessions to allow members across all regions to connect, share strategy, and improve their game in a collaborative environment.
The London Spotlight: A Special Weekend with Kerryjane Craigie
As the WPA looks toward its global future, the organization’s leaders are also creating spaces for intimate, high-impact gatherings. Kerryjane Craigie—WPA Vice President of the International Division, PokerStars Ambassador, and Director of Poker at The Hippodrome Casino London—announced she will be hosting a special Women’s Weekend at The Hippodrome Casino London from Friday, October 16, through Sunday, October 18, 2026.
The weekend is designed to provide a deep dive into both the social and strategic sides of the game, featuring:

A dedicated bootcamp study session.

A formal dinner and networking event.

A one-day women’s tournament.
Reflecting on the expansion and the upcoming London festivities, Craigie shared her vision for the community: “This truly is a global collective, and I believe we’re only just getting started.” With these new regional pipelines and a commitment to accessible education, the WPA is proving that for women in poker, the future is indeed bright.
