Born Christina Read—but known throughout the poker world as Chris, and by her community as the Poker Queen—she’s built a reputation as a strong-willed competitor who’s earned respect through results. With over $500,000 in live tournament earnings, 179 career cashes, and a legacy defined by focus and follow-through, Chris Read is once again in the spotlight at this summer’s biggest women’s event.
The WPT Run That Turned Heads
In December 2023, Chris made a major statement at the WPT Ladies Championship during the World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas. Outlasting over 400 players, she finished 4th for $34,220, staking her claim among the top-tier women in the game.
She’s now back in Las Vegas to compete in the $2,500 Women In Poker High Roller, a historic event of the 2025 Women In Poker Summer Festival.
From Vegas to Costa Rica — A Global Advocate
Chris’s influence stretches far beyond Las Vegas. Earlier this year, she hosted the Ladies Event at the Costa Rica Poker Festival, bolstering her international reach. From Ireland and Aruba to Malta and Barcelona, she continues to champion women-friendly events and visibility worldwide.

Chris also manages the Facebook group “Poker Queens,” a space where women in poker connect, share experiences, and stay informed about events and discussions in the community.
She’s a back-to-back LIPS National Champion, a rare accomplishment that highlights her consistency, competitiveness, and resilience at the tables. In 2023, she was honored as the WPA Player of the Year, a recognition that further cements her status as one of the most accomplished players on the circuit.
She’s also an advocate for the Women’s Poker Association (WPA), using her platform to promote access, and opportunity for women in poker around the globe.

Away from the felt, Chris is a proud wife, mom, and grandmother who balances her poker schedule with family life. Her discipline and direct approach are key to her sustained success. Which she admits it the hardert part of being a women in poker is balancing the time it takes and family.
Her advice to other women in the game is as sharp and simple as her style:
“Set small goals for yourself and never compare your journey to someone else’s.”
