Lisa Costello emerged as the champion of the WPT Ladies Championship at the Wynn Las Vegas. She outplayed 457 competitors and earned an impressive $85,297 in prize money.
On Day 2 of the tournament, Lisa faced a setback when she lost a significant hand to Ashley Sleeth. Lisa’s Ace King was defeated by Sleeth’s Pocket Queens, which left Lisa with a small chip stack of only 5BB. However, Lisa turned the tables when she eliminated Kathy Liebert, a Women’s Poker Hall Of Fame Member who had been leading the pack on Day 2. In a surprising twist, the same hand that had caused Lisa’s earlier loss to Sleeth became the hand that propelled her to the final table. Liebert went all in with her Q♠ Q♥and hit a set on the turn, but Lisa who was holding A♠ K♦ won dramatically on the river with a straight, knocking Liebert out of the tournament.

Lisa’s journey was not over yet, as she once again faced Ashley Sleeth this time in a heads-up battle for the championship. Sleeth made a bold with a limp-shove with her A♣ 10♦ , but Lisa emerged victorious with her A♥Q♦ . The board did not favor Sleeth, and Lisa won with an AQ high, securing her title as the WPT Ladies Champion.
